Discovery Channel is teaming with the Vatican for an unprecedented new series hunting the deadliest catch of all: Demons.

"The Exorcist Files" will recreate stories of real-life hauntings and demonic possession, based on cases investigated by the Catholic Church. The project includes access into the Vatican's case files, as well as interviews with the organization's top exorcists -- religious experts who are rarely seen on television.

The Vatican's Press Office director Fr. Federico Lombardi has, however, denied claims that there is any official collaboration between the Holy See and the Discovery Channel for the “The Exorcist Files.”

The circular media always trying to associate the church in these things so they can gain some credibility and sell their junk...

Time to let go of superstitions, boogymen, devils, and demons. All of those evil traits live and are doing well in the nature of mankind without the help of the Catholic Church getting involved at any point. To each their own, I say, until it gets to the point of being self destructive or self serving.....then I have a problem with all of this hocus pocus.

Donutman, "The greatest triumph of the Devil is that he has convinced so many people that he does not exist." -- St. John of Kronstadt. Great exorcists like Malachi Martin has also said this. The devil is real and he has been causing mischief.

A man called out, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him.…" Jesus replied … "Bring your son here.…" Jesus rebuked the evil spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father. And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. (Luke 9:37-43)

What most people don't realize is that while they may not be possessed, they can oppressed by spirits and don't even know it. Even church people. Renowned psychologist and bestselling author M. Scott Peck has indicated this in his book People Of the Lie.

Oppression is not full possession but the spirit(s) can have an influence in a person's life.

Christians must accept that sin is a choice and that evil is a real.

One needn't necessarily believe the demonic or the angelic to make them real. They are real whether one believes in them or not. In all cultures, there is a believe in the ongoing struggle between what can be perceived as good and evil energies.
